A Fly Fisher's Paradise

While Bow River Hookers focuses on the Bow River and her trout, we realize many anglers are looking for a variety of experiences on a multi-day fishing trip. Because of this, we offer fishing trips on a number of other fisheries in southern Alberta, each with their own unique setting and fishing experience. This is not to say a fisher should choose one of these alternate fisheries in place of a Bow River fishing trip, but rather, these other fisheries offer a fishing experience that will augment and provide variety in your multi-day Bow River fishing trip.

Generally speaking, anyone coming to Alberta to fly fish is doing himself a disservice if he does not fish the Bow River. Fly fishing other water courses in Alberta should only be considered on a 3, 4 or 5-day trip or on species specific fishing trips. If you're looking at a single day or 2-day Rainbow and/or Brown Trout fishing trip, you would be best advised to spend your fishing time on the Bow River.

A proud fisherman holds a beautiful trophy brown from the Bow.

Southern Alberta and Southeastern British Columbia offer a variety of fishing opportunities for the fly casting angler. Drift boat floats among the majestic Rocky Mountains on the Elk and Wigwam Rivers casting dry flies to trophy Cutthroat or streamers for trophy Bull Trout is a fishing experience you'll not soon forget. A number of alpine lakes in the area offer excellent cutthroat and grayling fishing, with amazing scenery to boot. The Crowsnest, Livingston, or Oldman Rivers offer exceptional Bull Trout opportunities in the fall with spectacular scenery and unique stream character. The Oldman River offers very good Rainbow Trout fishing from a drift boat or for those preferring to walk and wade.

If you are considering a multi-day fly fishing trip or looking at a species specific trip, the links below describe the angling opportunity on other water courses offering variety, colour and flavour to your Bow River experience.
