Unique to Bow River Hookers is our commitment to a hearty lunch and the comfort of our guests. A float trip down the Bow River is physically challenging. It is not unusual for our boats to be on the river fishing for 12 hours. That's twelve hours of continuous casting. Potentially, that's 2200 casts or more. A mid-day break is a welcome prospect.

Because fly casting for up to twelve hours is physically demanding, especially on your casting arm, a hearty meal is essential. Each of our guides is equipped to prepare a hot, river-side meal. The menu may vary from our famous Moose and Beef Chili, Elk and Beef Stew, Moose Burgers, Pork Chops, Beef on a Bun, Roast Beef to chicken along with a full compliment of condiments and usually a salad of one kind or another. At river-side, the meal is heated up using Coleman propane stoves and served on rigid plates with kitchen cutlery. Your guide will have handi-wipes and napkins so you can sanitize your hands before the meal if that's your desire. The only thing missing is the proverbial "kitchen sink".

Bow River Hookers has pre-determined lunch sites along the river. Each site is furnished with wooden camp tables and benches placed at the lunch sites early in the spring. Your lunch break on the river will be as comfortable as having lunch in a conventional picnic area with seating and table space for all. Nothing is overlooked on a Bow River Hookers float trip, right down to having salt and pepper on hand so you can season your meal the way you like it.

The typical deli sandwich lunch provided by other guiding services leaves guests hungry again before the end of the day. We have found the hot meal provides a nice break about halfway through the day and the meal goes a lot farther, especially when on the river some days as long as 12 hours.
